Lecture Series
The Frank Lloyd Wright masterpiece, nestled within the lush, wooded Bear Run Nature Reserve, is a timeless monument to organic architecture at its absolute best. Learn how architect, client, and site came together to create a house designed for living in harmony with nature.
Listen to oral histories and hear about the people who first settled
in the Bear Run area, and how a wealthy Pittsburgh family discovered the area, which was perfectly suited for a summer camp and later, a private retreat into nature. Meet the clients, the architect and the craftsmen who created Fallingwater.
Available by advance ticket purchase only
Tickets available on-line or by phone
The lecture is not held in Fallingwater itself, but at The Barn at Fallingwater. The Barn is a late 1800’s Pennsylvania bank barn that was once part of the Kaufmann’s dairy farm. Today this LEED certified building has been adapted for other uses including meeting and gathering space. When planning a lecture as a part of your visit we suggest you allow at least three hours on site and schedule your tour no later than 12 noon or no earlier than 3:30 pm.
Sunset Tour

Envision yourself as a guest at Fallingwater as your guide leads you through the house and fully engages you in Wright’s sublime integration of building and nature. As afternoon turns to evening, the changing light allows you to see Fallingwater from an entirely new perspective as you enjoy hors d'oeuvres with your guide. To further enhance the experience, the number of visitors is limited and interior still photography is permitted for personal use only. Your tour will begin with a walk down the original drive to the house and end with a private luncheon at a distinctive Fallingwater location where you will indulge in seasonal dishes prepared by our on-site chef. After lunch, you may stroll to the spot where photographers have long captured “the classic view” of the iconic house rising above the waterfall—a perfect location for a photo to remind you of your unique Fallingwater visit.
