Western Pennsylvania is home to many American landmarks.
Day One
After a beautiful drive through the Laurel Highlands you’ll arrive at the Historic Summit Inn. Listed on the National Register of Historic places, the Inn is a grand porch hotel renowned for its panoramic views and fireplace atmosphere. Enjoy a swim in the indoor or outdoor pool or a round of golf and then a delicious dinner in the restaurant.
Day Two
Breakfast is served! The Summit Inn starts your day right with a hearty breakfast and then it’s out the door and on the way to Fallingwater, a National Historic Landmark. This package offers you the opportunity to choose the In-depth or Regular Tour. Have lunch in the Fallingwater café or make the short drive to Ohiopyle and enjoy lunch with the locals. While in Ohiopyle take a walk on one of the trails at Ferncliffe Peninsula, a National Natural Historic Landmark. After your walk it’s only a short drive to Fort Necessity National Battlefield. The Fort Necessity/National Road Interpretive Center immerses you in the French and Indian War and life on the National Road (U.S. Route 40). Then it’s back to the Inn for refreshments on the porch before a relaxing dinner.

Day Three
The Summit Inn provides breakfast again before you start your short drive to Kentuck Knob. Tour this Wright Usonian home, another National Historic Landmark, and walk through the sculpture garden and see the collection of current owner Lord Peter Palumbo. After the tour, consider a drive along the National Road Heritage Corridor. This corridor follows U. S. Route 40, the first federally funded road project. Follow the replicas of the original mile markers through the small towns and villages, explore the antique shops along the way and even visit two of the original toll booths. One of the local restaurants will make the perfect place for a bite to eat before starting for home.
