Touchstone Center for Crafts
Faculty Exhibition
In 1972, The Edgar Kaufmann Charitable Trust provided funding for the Pioneer Crafts Council later to be known as Touchstone Center for Crafts a unique three-season residential craft school located just 15 miles from Fallingwater. Touchstone’s original mission was to foster interest in the preservation of traditional mountain craft forms and the material culture of the Appalachian region.
Today, the school has expanded to include contemporary and experimental techniques in addition to traditional and historic methods in disciplines.
Touchstone is Pennsylvania’s only residential craft school and offers beginners and seasoned artists more than 100 week-long and weekend courses taught by some of North America’s finest artists and artisans, some of whose work is on display here.
