Frank Lloyd Wright: Revolutionary Contributions to Modern Architecture

Offered in collaboration with Laurelville Mennonite Church Center and Elderhostel, International, this program explores the many facets of Wright’s contributions to modern architecture with emphasis on two houses in this region. Visit Fallingwater, Wright's best essay on the harmony between architecture and nature. Then visit Kentuck Knob, a private residence blending impeccably with its surroundings as a superb example of Wright's organic architecture.

Good Design and the Modern Chair

 View chairs from various collection throughout Western Pennsylvania. 

Edjar J. Kaufmann, jr passionately believed that good design was an essential part of everyday life.  The chair designs exemplify Kaufmann's philosophy of good design:  "a thorough merging of form and function and an awareness of human values expressed in relation to industrial production for a democratic society.

Now through October 31, 2008 in the Gallery at the Visitors Center.
