Thursday Lecture - Fallingwater: A Place for Renewal
Location: The Barn at Fallingwater
Time: 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

The Frank Lloyd Wright masterpiece, nestled within the lush, wooded Bear Run Nature Reserve, is a timeless monument to organic architecture at its absolute best. Learn how architect, client, and site came together to create a house designed for living in harmony with nature.

Please note that the lecture is not held in Fallingwater itself, but at The Barn at Fallingwater. The Barn is a late 1800’s Pennsylvania bank barn that was once part of the Kaufmann’s diary farm. Today this LEED certified building has been adapted for other uses including meeting and gathering space.

If your adding a lecture as a part of your visit to Fallingwater we suggest allowing at least three hours on site and scheduling your tour no later than 12 noon and no earlier than 3:30 pm.

Cost: $8.00 when purchased with a Fallingwater house tour; $18.00 for the lecture only.  This lecture may also be booked for groups by special arrangement.

InsiteOnsite
Location: Fallingwater
Our new InsiteOnsite at Fallingwater provides a rare opportunity for adults who seek a new perspective on arts and architecture.  The three-day seminar engages the mind, body and spirit while allowing participants to contemplate and experience a masterpiece.

Insight Onsite combines quiet exploration, group inquiry exercises and lively mealtime discussions to provide participants with a unique understanding of modern architecture from physical, psychological, and historical perspectives.

Participants will join Lynda Waggoner, Director of Fallingwater, and Fallingwater’s curators for this unique experience which is being offered on the following dates:

  • Tuesday, July 14 at 4 p.m. through Thursday, July 16 at 1 p.m.
  • Tuesday, September 15 at 4 p.m. through Thursday, September 17 at 1 p.m.
  • Tuesday, November 3 at 4 p.m. through Thursday, November 5 at 1 p.m.

Interested parties may now make reservations to any one of the three-day seminars. Because this program is intended to help a small group focus on personal inquiry, Insight Onsite at Fallingwater is limited to eight people per session. The pricing for this all-inclusive experience is $1195 per person for double occupancy and $1595 for single occupancy. Guests will reside in simple on-site housing at Bear Run Nature Reserve – the 5,000-acre natural area that is home to Fallingwater – in a house that includes four bedrooms, each with a private bath.

Seminar activities include:

  • A silent walk to Fallingwater and time to explore the house on one’s own
  • Discussion and inquiry exercises designed to deepen participants’ understanding of and appreciation for the house and its setting
  • Dinner with Fallingwater’s director and curator in Fallingwater’s living room or on one of Fallingwater’s terraces (weather permitting)
  • Conversations about art, architecture and other topics with special guests
