Photography Workshops - Fall 2022
Led by 2016 Fallingwater Institute Artist-in-Residence: Andrew Pielage
By the time he designed Fallingwater in 1934, Frank Lloyd Wright had become a master of light and space. Photography also requires a mastery of light, especially when photographing a structure like Fallingwater. Join Andrew Pielage, an artist-in-residence at the Fallingwater Institute who has photographed more than 60 Frank Lloyd Wright sites around the country and whose work has been internationally published and featured on Architectural Digest magazine, Vanity magazine, Lonely Planet, Curbed, PBS and NPR.

Learn the best shutter speed, aperture and ISO settings for exterior and interior spaces. Join a small group of photographers and benefit from an intimate group size with direct instruction and feedback from Pielage while learning ways to improve your photographs. Enjoy full photographic access of Fallingwater and its site in early morning and evening hours. Workshop includes a special night photography session (weather permitting).

Pielage has photographed 108 Frank Lloyd Wright sites around the country and has been published in newspapers, magazines and websites from CNN to the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation’s quarterly magazine.
Born to an adventurous mother and a geologist father, his childhood was spent exploring the dusty backroads of the American Southwest. This constant desert travel rooted his artistic soul in landscape photography.
In his hometown, Pielage discovered the beautiful relationship of landscape and design in the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright. Wright inspired his passion for this relationship and his mission to photograph all of Wright’s remaining designs.
With over 20 years of experience, including international ad campaigns and publications, television features, exhibitions and workshops, Pielage continues to do what he loves: capture the soul of his subjects and inspire imagination through photography and education.
