A program of the Fallingwater Institute
Insight/Onsite combines unfettered access to Fallingwater with discovery and observation, group exercises, technical explorations and in-depth scholarly discussions. During this two-day intensive workshop, professional architects and designers will explore Fallingwater and reside on site at High Meadow.
Insight/Onsite for Design Professionals provides participants with a unique understanding of Fallingwater and an opportunity to contemplate historic and contemporary applications of Frank Lloyd Wright’s ideas. Participants in this unique workshop will be eligible for continuing education learning credits through AIA.
Fallingwater Institute is an accredited provider of continuing education credits through the AIA.

John Matteo has played an integral role in the ongoing preservation of Fallingwater for more than 20 years. As part of Robert Silman’s team, he helped to prevent the possible collapse of the house’s cantilevers through the installation of an elegant post-tensioning solution in the early 2000s. Since that time, John has consulted on a range of preservation projects that require his structural engineering expertise. John is the principal of 1200 Architectural Engineers, PLLC located in Alexandria, VA. He is also a lecturer at Johns Hopkins University’s Whiting School of Engineering.
Participants will stay on the property in the newly constructed residence designed by AIA Gold Medalist architect Peter Bohlin, who is the founding principal of the firm Bohlin Cywinski Jackson. This property is situated adjacent to Fallingwater, and includes eight bedrooms, each with a private bath. This secluded site is surrounded by an amazing view of the Bear Run Nature Reserve – the 5,100-acre natural area that is home to Fallingwater.
Classes are held at the adjacent Cheteyan Studio, and on site at Fallingwater. This is a casual and natural learning environment, where daily activities can inspire great things! All meals are provided.
You must be a trained or practicing architect or design professional. Enrollment is limited.
