Fallingwater Institute Saturday Classes Online are held over a series of consecutive Saturdays and are available to high school students of any skill level in grades 9 through 12. Our expert instructors will lead group discussions, present challenging, independent projects, and provide individualized feedback to help you build your skills.

Frank Lloyd Wright’s sketches for Fallingwater were created by hand, using pencils, rulers, and scales. Improve your ability to draw by hand and learn about the different types of architectural drawings and conventions. Apply dimension and scale as you create a basic set of measured drawings. Get inspiration from the drawings of Frank Lloyd Wright. Class sessions will include group discussions, independent studio time, and individualized feedback. Students should plan on attending all four classes in the series and will be required to complete drawing assignments between sessions. Fee includes basic materials and tools, provided by mail. Streaming-quality internet connection and device with video chat capability required. For students in grades 9 through 12.
This course will be led by architect and educator, Ivan Chow. Mr. Chow has practiced as an architect for over three decades in firms of all sizes, across the United States and abroad. He has experience in every aspect of the design and construction process, from land planning and concept design to construction administration and real estate financing and has worked on a wide range of building types, including residential, commercial, institutional and industrial uses. In addition, Mr. Chow has served in multiple academic capacities at the university level, including chair of an architecture department and dean at the Savannah College of Art and Design. He is also an award-winning artist and served as a 2018 Fallingwater Institute Artist-in-Residence. Mr. Chow received a Master of Architecture from Harvard University Graduate School of Design and a Bachelor of Arts in architecture with highest honors from the University of California at Berkeley. He is a registered architect, a certificate holder with the National Council or Architectural Registration boards and a member of the American Institute of Architects.

Eligibility
Any student entering grades 10 through 12 is eligible to apply. Previous design experience or classes is required. Students curious about architecture, design or visual art careers are strongly encouraged to apply. Enrollment is limited.
