Humbly gracing a hillside near Fallingwater is Hickman Chapel, a modest one-story chapel dedicated in 1901 as a place of worship for the local Bear Run community. Originally constructed on the lands of the M.C. Skinner and Peter Tissue families, this chapel faithfully served its congregation until the early 1980s, at which point regular church services were discontinued.

Hickman Chapel began hosting an annual homecoming celebration for its members, their families, and the local community in 1926. This year marks the 100th anniversary of those gatherings.

In September 2017, the remaining members graciously donated the chapel and cemetery to the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy to ensure its long-term preservation. In honor of the annual homecoming tradition, the Conservancy will host a celebration and public open house at Hickman Chapel to share the history and significance of this local landmark.
