Learn about Fallingwater and Frank Lloyd Wright’s design philosophy while preparing for the college application process. Learn about careers in fields like design, architecture, fine art, and more, from the comfort of your home.

Fallingwater Institute Virtual Summer Camps serve as a companion to our high school residency programs. Virtual Summer Camps are appropriate for high school students of all skill levels. During these week-long educational programs, our expert instructors will lead group discussions, present challenging, independent projects, and provide individualized feedback to help you build your skills.

Studio materials provided by mail. Streaming-quality internet connection and device with video chat capability required.

Eligibility

Any student entering grades 9 through 12 is eligible to apply. No previous design experience is required. Students curious about architecture, design or visual art careers are strongly encouraged to apply. Enrollment is limited.

Virtual Summer Camps: Portfolio Prep

June 20 - June 24, 2022

Get inspired by Fallingwater during this week-long, guided studio exploration. Fallingwater Institute instructors will help you produce portfolio-worthy pieces in the medium of your choice, with a special focus on traditional studio processes and tangible work created by hand. Portfolio Prep is for students who are interested in studying design, architecture and fine art at a collegiate level. All skill levels are welcome. Fee includes basic materials and tools, provided by mail.

Drawing by Hand: Introduction to Architectural Drawing

July 18 - July 22, 2022

Frank Lloyd Wright’s sketches for Fallingwater were created by hand, using pencils, rulers, and scales. Improve your drawing skills and learn the basics of architectural drawing during group discussions, independent studio time, and individualized critique. Fee includes basic materials and tools, provided by mail. Streaming-quality internet connection and device with video chat capability required.

COVID-19 Update: For the safety of students and staff, all participants in on-site residencies must provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination, as defined by the Centers of Disease Control, during the application process. All students and staff will adhere to the current WPC COVID-19 safety requirements, which will be provided to participants in advance of the course.
