Volunteer

If you’re passionate about Fallingwater, we welcome you to consider one of the volunteer opportunities available on-site.

We rely on volunteers in countless ways. We invite you to use your skills in a rewarding setting with others who share your love of architecture and the great outdoors in a stimulating and unique environment.

What qualifications do I need?

  • 18 years of age
  • Responsible and enthusiastic

Note: Some programs require that you attend an orientation and/or training class, or acquire special certification.

What can I do?

Fallingwater volunteers donate hours or days throughout the season.

Volunteers work in a variety of capacities, such as:

  • Ask-Me Guides
    Provide informal interpretation for visitors, answer questions, and wayfinding.
  • Gallery Attendants
    Welcome visitors, secure the exhibition, distribute information and answer questions.
  • Museum Store Volunteers
    Aid customers, answer questions, restock, and arrange merchandise.
  • Café Volunteers
    Clean and bus tables, run the dishwasher, and keep supplies stocked.
  • Landscape Volunteers
    Prepare, plant and cleanup of gardens and flower beds, invasive plant removal, and help with seasonal horticultural jobs.
  • Trail Maintenance Volunteers
    Clear and maintain trails at the Bear Run Nature Reserve.
  • Fallingwater Collections Volunteers
    Catalogue, inventory, scan, photograph, and/or file historic material and objects.
  • Visitor Services Office Volunteers
    Respond to voicemails, emails, and file documents.
  • Residency Studio Volunteers
    Assist with critiques of high school, college, and adult residency groups.
  • Virtual Summer Camp Volunteers
    Organize and package class materials to prepare for mailings.

Other special projects arise periodically in which we can utilize the special skills that our volunteer pool provides.
