James Ray Polk and The Mississippi Sawyers present An Evening of Music in Architecture. Experience Frank Lloyd Wright’s timeless masterpiece in a rare and intimate way—through a collection original mandolin-based compositions inspired by the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright and the music of Bill Monroe. This special performance is part of the 2026 Organic Architecture Tour, a national concert series and album release tour celebrating the timeless relationship between music and architecture at iconic sites across the country.
“When I was young I fully expected to pursue a career in music. Then one day, in a high school textbook, I saw Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater. I had never encountered anything so magical. I remember thinking ‘this building is more than walls and roof—it has a soul!’ In that moment, I decided to become an architect, and that shaped the rest of my life.
Fast forward several decades and the music and architecture have become one. Inspired by the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright and the music of Bill Monroe, I composed a collection of mandolin-based tunes for an album entitled Organic Architecture. Along with my band, The Mississippi Sawyers, I am thrilled to present the music—woven together with stories about Mr. Wright and his work—in the form of An Evening of Music in Architecture.”
