Monmade Producers Invite Public to Experience Fallingwater-inspired Creations

Pittsburgh, Pa. – Nov. 6, 2019– Local craftspeople, designers and artists will display their distinctive products inspired by their time experiencing Fallingwater and learning about Frank Lloyd Wright and his architecture at an opening reception Fri., Nov. 15 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Brew House Association in Pittsburgh.

The group of creatives is part of Monmade, a project of Pittsburgh’s Craft Business Accelerator at Bridgeway Capital, which seeks to provide creatives with better access to the elements of business success, including unique opportunities to sell their products and to inspire business development and creativity in our region’s Mon Valley communities.

Fallingwater partnered with Monmade to create the Fallingwater + Monmade Design Residency. In late April, a selection of Monmade participants had full access to Frank Lloyd Wright’s architectural masterwork, Fallingwater and its grounds and collections. Through their immersion, they gained inspiration to create ceramic vessels, fine art prints, fashion accessories and more.

The residency offered these entrepreneurial and skilled creatives the opportunity to have fun with design, create innovative designs and sell their products. “Monmade was looking for a design challenge for its producers,” said Katie Johnson, CBA’s business support and impact specialist. “Designing products for Fallingwater offered an excellent opportunity.”

The Brew House exhibition features products, prototypes, and process insights developed during the Fallingwater residency by Monmade creatives and their brands, including Collarbone Jewelry, Bones and All, Broken Plates, Brian Ferrell Designs, FD Pottery, Jowdy Studio, KERF, KMJ Metalworks, LaVerne Kemp Studio, Maia Leppo, OTTO FINN, Savannah Hayes, Seth LeDonne, strawberryluna, TAKTTIME and Urban Tree.

The products created by participants during the residency will be exhibited and for sale in the Brew House Association gallery from Nov.15, 2019 through Jan. 4, 2020, and for sale through the Fallingwater Museum Store and its online store at FallingwaterMuseumStore.org.

The Brew House Association is located at 711 S. 21st St. #210, in Pittsburgh’s South Side neighborhood. The opening reception is free and open to the public; RSVPs are requested at www.monmade.org/fmdr/.
