Sample Bequest Language

Supporting Fallingwater through your estate plans is as simple as adding a codicil to your existing will - or making Fallingwater a beneficiary of your IRA, life insurance or retirement account.

Below is some sample language that you can share with your attorney.

Dollar Amount
"I hereby give the sum of $____ to the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, a nonprofit, charitable organization incorporated under the laws of Pennsylvania and presently having offices at 800 Waterfront Drive, Pittsburgh, PA, 15222, to be used for Fallingwater. These funds are donated to and are to be placed in a restricted fund for Fallingwater. If, in the opinion of the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy Board of Directors or their successors, the need for funds for the purpose described above no longer exists, at some future date the Board of Directors, or their successors, are authorized to use these funds in the best interest of Fallingwater in a manner that will most nearly accomplish my wishes."

Percentage
"I hereby give __ percent of my estate to the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy... (as above)."

Remainder Value
"I hereby bequeath all the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate to the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy... (as above)."

Since we will likely not receive your bequest until far into the future, we recommend keeping your estate language as general as possible—to avoid benefiting a project that we no longer pursue or terms that will be difficult to meet. We are happy to discuss your vision for a specific purpose with you now to ensure that your wishes will be fulfilled in the future. As always consult your financial advisor or a lawyer.
