Virtual Summer Camp: Portfolio Prep

A program of the Fallingwater Institute

Get inspired by Fallingwater during this week-long, guided studio exploration. Fallingwater Institute instructors will help you produce portfolio-worthy pieces in the medium of your choice, with a special focus on traditional studio processes and tangible work created by hand. Portfolio Prep is for students who are interested in studying design, architecture and fine art at a collegiate level. All skill levels are welcome.

Fallingwater Institute Virtual Summer Camps serve as a companion to our high school residency programs. Virtual Summer Camps are appropriate for high school students of all skill levels. During these week-long educational programs, our expert instructors will lead group discussions, present challenging, independent projects, and provide individualized feedback to help you build your skills.

Fee includes studio materials, which are provided by mail. Streaming-quality internet connection and device with video chat capability required. Virtual Summer Camp meetings are held via Zoom. Class sessions include a combination of online and offline time between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Eastern.

About the Instructors

Sarah Zeffiro

Sarah Zeffiro is an artist, educator, and health and wellness advocate. Zeffiro Art designs solutions for residential and corporate clients that include 2D, 3D, digital design, and public art installation. Zeffiro Art Studio develops all ages events and programs that are designed to build community through collaboration.

Sarah currently serves as Carlow University’s Teaching Artist in residence through 2022. The residency project, Love is Colorful, fuses the University Art Gallery, The Campus Laboratory School, and Education Department to promote empathy through storytelling. Additionally, Sarah has been an educator with the Carnegie Museum of Art since 2002, and has developed programming for Kennedy Center for Performing Arts and The Children’s Museum (Pittsburgh).

Eligibility

Any student entering grades 9 through 12 is eligible to apply. No previous design experience is required. Students curious about architecture, design or visual art careers are strongly encouraged to apply. Enrollment is limited.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

If you cancel your registration for a one-day workshop any time up to 30 days before the day of the program, you will receive a refund minus a $25 processing fee.

If you cancel your registration for a multi-day program (residencies, Insight/Onsite, etc.) any time up to 30 days before the first day of the program, you will receive a refund minus a $50 processing fee and a $150 cancellation fee.

If you cancel less than 30 days before the first day of a Fallingwater Institute program, refunds are not available.
